Hummingbird Puppet

What you will need:

  • Download the pieces of the hummingbird from DLTK-Kids by clicking the B&W link for both Template (main) and Template (wings) and print
  • Feathers, markers, or other decorations
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Paper bag

Activity instructions:

  • Decide whether to make a boy or a girl hummingbird. Male hummingbirds have brightly colored feathers in order to attract females while the females have duller feathers in order to camouflage themselves while nesting.
  • Follow the instructions on DLTK-Kids, decorating your pieces to look like a boy or girl hummingbird.
  • After all the pieces have been decorated and glued, glue your hummingbird to the paper bag to make it a puppet.
  • Set aside at least an hour to dry.
