Western Yellow-Billed Cuckoo Survey Training, June 20-21, 2024

Registration is open and space is limited, so grab your spot today!

The 2024 Western Yellow-billed Cuckoo surveyor training will be offered in a hybrid format, with a virtual classroom session on June 20 followed by an in-person field session on June 21. Two field sites are available - one on the Santa Cruz River south of Tucson and the other on the East Verde River near the town of Payson.

Audubon Southwest is hosting this training in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), the AZ Game and Fish Department, the Southern Sierra Research Station, the Bureau of Land Management, and Tucson Audubon. The USFWS requires biologists to complete this training prior to being permitted to conduct surveys. In most cases, Yellow-billed Cuckoo surveyors are required to attend this training every two to three years. Experienced surveyors new to AZ should attend this training. Space is limited and preference will be given to those with field work scheduled. REGISTER HERE
