Emily Macklin

Emily develops, organizes, markets, and teaches Audubon Arizona’s STEM-based, standards-aligned nature education programs for elementary age students. These programs include Audubon's after school program, field trip program, in-class presentations, and seasonal day/overnight camps. These interactive, hand-on experiences are designed to immerse students in their natural environment with curriculum focused on native ecology and life sciences.

Emily graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and a certification in Geographic Information Systems. She also received a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Texas Christian University.

Formerly, Emily has been involved in the caring of wildlife and endangered species through intensive internships at wildlife sanctuaries and as a zookeeper, as well as working as a Wildlife Biological Technician with the Bureau of Land Management in Phoenix, AZ. As a Wildlife Technician she conducted Yellow-billed Cuckoo surveys, worked extensively on telemetry projects with desert tortoises, and assessed in the vegetative health of fragile desert ecosystems.
