Audubon Center
Rio Salado
Over the next few years, Audubon Arizona will be building the Nina Mason Pulliam Rio Salado Audubon Center in Phoenix and partnering with the City of Phoenix and the project.
The Audubon Center will be a place where children and families will have direct experiences in nature, giving them a sense of the world they live in so that they can take an active role in caring for it. Our goal is for the Rio Salado Audubon Center to become a vital, lasting resource in our community

Thank You, Ak-Chin Indian Community
A primary theme of the Rio Salado Center’s programs, exhibits, and interpretive trails will be the critical importance of water in the desert—we seek to share and model water conservation actions that can sustain our arid environment. One focal point of our conservation modeling will be an ecologically engineered treatment and wastewater reclamation system. Pictured here is a portion of the system that will process the Center’s wastewater for irrigation use. The system was made possible by a generous grant from the Ak-Chin Indian Community, the Honorable Delia Carlyle, Chair.
